Antonín Slavíček – Passionate Landscape Painter of the Turn of the Century

The Gallery of Fine Arts Karlovy Vary presents a new format: Art Duel in the Gallery — a combination of a guided tour and lecture dedicated to the most significant Czech artists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The event takes place on 19 May 2026 from 17:00. The guided tour (30 min.) presents two works by Antonín Slavíček from the permanent collection (Cottages in Kameničky; Mallows) and explores the phenomenon of the Czech landscape and the reception of Impressionism in 20th-century Czech art — including works by Václav Špála, Václav Rabas, Jan Zrzavý, Václav Bartovský, and Otakar Slavík. The subsequent lecture (45 min.) delves into the life and work of Antonín Slavíček, visiting the Hvězda game reserve, Veltrusy park, the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, and the Prague districts of Letná and Holešovice.
