MARIENBAD FILM FESTIVAL 2026
Marienbad Film Festival is an international film festival dedicated to experimental and artistically demanding cinema, held annually in Mariánské Lázně (Marienbad). The 11th edition takes place from 11 to 15 June 2026 and brings internationally significant films and guests who experiment with cinematic form and narration. The theme of this year's edition is the question "Film for everyone?"
The festival aims to create encounters between independent and experimental filmmakers and artists working with moving images, while making challenging films more accessible to wider audiences. It presents significant works from the history and present of world cinema.
The programme comprises several sections: the competition Forum Marienbad (international selection of experimental films and audiovisual essays), the Vzory/Masters section with retrospectives of established filmmakers, and thematic selections. Screenings are held at multiple venues in the centre of Mariánské Lázně – the cinema, Casino Social House, Municipal Theatre, Chopin House, the Colonnade and the Municipal Museum.
The festival is supported by the State Cinematography Fund, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Karlovy Vary Region, the City of Mariánské Lázně, and the Czech-German Future Fund. All screenings and accompanying events are open to the public. Tickets available at goout.net.
