Moons of the Planets

Wednesday, 10 June 2026, 18:18
Ends: Wednesday, 10 June 2026, 19:18
Hvězdárna Františka Krejčího Karlovy Vary

The František Krejčí Observatory in Karlovy Vary invites you to a lecture series with astronomer Jaroslav Maxa entitled Moons of the Planets. Once, people knew only a single moon — our own. Today we know that the natural satellites of planets are remarkably diverse worlds, some far larger than our Moon.

Jaroslav Maxa will explore what we know about the geological activity of moons, oceans hidden beneath their icy surfaces, and their possible connection to the search for extraterrestrial life. The series also revisits Galileo and his groundbreaking observations that first revealed planetary moons to human eyes.

Admission: adults 200 CZK, students and seniors 150 CZK, children 80 CZK, family ticket 420 CZK. Free with the Karlovy Vary Region card. Payment by cash or QR code on the day; no registration required.
