Out & About: Císařské lázně and the EUmies Awards

The architectural tour of the new multipurpose hall at Císařské lázně will be led by Petr Hájek, the architect who designed a built-in hall inserted into the original atrium of this historic spa building. In 2026, the project made it onto the prestigious shortlist for the European Architecture Award — the EUmies Awards, also known as the Mies van der Rohe Award.

Petr Hájek is a Czech architect and lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture at CTU (Czech Technical University) and founder of the studio Petr Hájek ARCHITEKTI. The tour will explore the decisions his team faced when integrating contemporary architecture into the historic spa structure, and the award-nominated solution that European experts ranked among the finest new buildings of the year.

The tour is part of the Out & About series, which highlights interesting cultural and architectural landmarks in Karlovy Vary.
