Opening of the 2026 Spa Season, Mariánské Lázně

The ceremonial opening of the spa season is one of the most important cultural events in Mariánské Lázně. It traditionally takes place on the second weekend of May; in 2026, from Friday 8 May to Sunday 10 May. The main venues are the Colonnade on Masarykova Street and the main stage at the Arnika complex, with additional stages at Karolinin pramen, the Chopin House, the Casino Social House, and the Music Pavilion at Lesní pramen.

Friday opens the season with simultaneous afternoon programmes across all stages: the main Arnika stage features the Mariánské Lázně Accordion Orchestra, Jazz Cakes, and the band ISARA; the colonnade hosts an afternoon "Music with Coffee" session and an evening with Dixieland Planá. The children's stage at Karolinin pramen offers an afternoon of mimes, clowns (Bailo, Pepa), aerial acrobatics by CirkTRL, and a juggling and mime workshop. The highlight of Friday evening is a gala concert by world-renowned opera singer Adam Plachetka with the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra of Mariánské Lázně, conducted by Stanislav Vavřínek, at the Casino Social House.

Saturday brings the central ceremonies — a morning mass at the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, a blessing of the springs at the Křížový pramen Pavilion, and a performance by the Singing Fountain at noon. A costumed promenade in period dress winds through the morning between the colonnade, children's stage, park, and Arnika. The afternoon children's programme culminates with a performance by Michal Nesvadba. The main Arnika stage hosts folklore ensemble Marjánek, a show with Dalibor Gondík, and in the evening the Stan & Tony Revival band and Tros Discotequos. The Music Pavilion at Lesní pramen hosts the Youngies Party from afternoon into the night with the Czech hip-hop and electronic scene (Smack One, Robin Zoot, Cocoman, 101 Warriors Crew). Saturday closes with a DJ show by Leoš Mareš on the colonnade.

Sunday is dedicated to a Day with the Fryderyck Chopin Music School (ZUŠ) — a ceremonial march by the Youth Wind Orchestra and majorettes sets off from Hotel Bohemia, and throughout the afternoon the colonnade hosts ensembles from the music school, from the Slavíčci through the chamber string ensemble and folklore Rozmarýnek to the Elementary Jazz Orchestra. An art workshop runs in parallel.

Throughout the weekend: market stalls on Hlavní Street, MINT Market by the Singing Fountain, craft markets, partner presentations, an exhibition marking 170 years of spa wafers, a photo corner with props and 360° video, busking at four locations, and an Information Centre stand.
