Shakespeare in Love
A theatrical adaptation of the romantic comedy Shakespeare in Love, with a script by Lee Hall and Tom Stoppard based on their globally acclaimed Hollywood film, imagining the fictional creation of the world's most famous love tragedy. Young poet and playwright Will Shakespeare is suffering from writer's block — until he meets Viola, who loves the theatre so much that she infiltrates his company disguised as a boy, since women were not permitted to perform on the Elizabethan London stage.
The production was directed by Adam Doležal with dramaturgy by Martina Pokorná; set design by Kateřina Baranowska, costumes by Agnieszka Oldak-Pátá. Music composed by Martin Šimek, movement and dance directed by Richard Ševčík, stage combat arranged by Karel Kočí. Jan Šťava plays Will in the title role, with Vivien Machková as Viola; the ensemble also includes Samuel Gonda, Karel Beseda, Viktor Braunreiter, Lucie Domesová, Magdaléna Hniličková, Eliška Huber Malíková and others.
