BLOCKLINE – Bike Adventure in the Ore Mountains
BLOCKLINE Start-/Zielportal Holzhau · Start-/Zielportal Blockline am Haltepunkt Holzhau Skilift, 09623 Rechenberg-Bienenmühle-Holzhau, Sachsen, Deutschland
BLOCKLINE is not just a cycling route. It is a multi-day mountain adventure through one of the most attractive parts of the eastern Ore Mountains. Expect forest tracks, open mountain meadows, reservoirs, deep valleys, long views, and places where the region's woodcraft tradition still feels close to the surface.
The whole route is tied together by distinctive wooden portals, information boards, and yellow signs with a large B, so the ride feels like a marked adventure rather than a random line on a map. BLOCKLINE combines a proper sporting challenge with the pleasure of discovering the landscape, and that is exactly what makes it special.

How to ride BLOCKLINE
You can ride BLOCKLINE as one full circuit, split it across several days, or choose one of the individual loops. The complete route is about 140 km with roughly 2,750 m of climbing, so it has a genuine mountain-trip character.
The route is signposted counter-clockwise and you can join it at points other than Holzhau. For the most coherent experience, start at one of the official portals or from partner accommodation along the route.

Why go
BLOCKLINE is for riders who want more than ticking off kilometres. The ride has atmosphere, rhythm, and a story. Each loop has its own character: open mountain meadows and views in one place, forest passages, woodcraft heritage, and small Ore Mountain towns in another.
It works for MTB and gravel bikes, for sport-minded riders, and for anyone who prefers to turn the route into a more relaxed stage trip. Whether you ride one loop or the full BLOCKLINE, this is the kind of trip that makes the Ore Mountains worth coming back to.

Riding the route itself is free. You only pay for optional services and extras that can make the trip easier or more comfortable.

Practical information
The full BLOCKLINE is a demanding route, so riders with some mountain or long-distance experience will enjoy it most. Families, or anyone who wants to take the route slowly, will usually be better off choosing individual loops or shorter stages. Sportier riders can split the complete circuit across 1 to 3 days.
The best season is usually May to October. In wet conditions, wider tires with a confident tread are a good idea. Bring a helmet, enough food and water, rain and sun protection, and a small first-aid kit. On some sections, a black grouse symbol marks an easier alternative known as the chickenway.
