Rolava Leisure Area

Rolava Leisure Area spreads across the north-western edge of Karlovy Vary and is one of the city's easiest places for summer recreation. Entry is free for most everyday use, and the site combines the feeling of a natural swimming area with the convenience of a maintained public sports ground.

The main draw is a natural swimming lake with sandy beaches and two small islands. In hot weather it turns this part of Karlovy Vary into a local beach: families settle on the grass, swimmers head for the water and children move between the playgrounds, trampolines and sports courts.

Rolava offers a broad mix of activities for different ages:

• Beach-volleyball courts for casual games and tournaments
• Multi-purpose courts for ball sports
• Outdoor gym and senior exercise elements
• Two children's playgrounds and a large air trampoline
• Grass areas for picnics, resting and sunbathing

There is also a sports-equipment rental point, sanitary facilities with lockers, drinking water, Wi-Fi and refreshments. Parking is available nearby, and the public-transport stop Koupaliště Rolava on line 12 is right by the entrance.

Season and opening

The area is accessible year-round, with the main season running from 1 May to 30 September:

• Summer staffed operation: 8:00-20:00
• Turnstiles: 6:00-22:00

From October to April, the area is usually open from 9:00 to 16:00, with only the main walking route maintained.

Practical information

Everyday entry is free and barrier-free, except for separately organised paid cultural or sports events. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.

Animals, including dogs, are not allowed in the area. Smoking is permitted only in three designated zones. Rolava also hosts cultural and sports events during the year, so check the programme if you are planning a visit on a busy summer day.
