Via Ferrata Bečov nad Teplou

Via Ferrata Bečov nad Teplou, often described locally as the first Czech bio-via-ferrata, is a compact climbing stop at the western end of the Bečov Botanical Garden by the Teplá River. It is not a separate rock site outside the garden: the official garden website states that the bioferrata is part of the botanical garden and can be accessed after paying garden admission. Its short length makes it a convenient active add-on to a Bečov trip, but a via ferrata set, harness and helmet are still essential.

Climbing

The route sits inside the botanical garden, in the rear part of the grounds near the rocky slope. Ferrata guides list roughly 50 m of climbing, about 30 m of elevation gain and around 10 minutes of actual climbing time; with approach and descent, allow closer to half an hour. The short routes are spread across several rock sections. Some variants suit beginners and children with responsible adult supervision, while other sections reach around C/D to D difficulty, so equipment and judgement still matter.

The bioferrata is inside the paid botanical garden grounds. Practical Information

Access follows the botanical garden opening hours. The garden usually operates seasonally from April to October with longer summer hours, but it may close because of operational needs or bad weather. After rain, the rock and access paths can be slippery; wear sturdy shoes and bring proper ferrata gear. The garden mentions individual arrangements for visitors with reduced mobility, but the ferrata itself remains a rocky sport activity.
