Climbing Arena Jirkov

Lezecká aréna Jirkov · Ervěnická 1147, 431 11 Jirkov

Climbing Arena Jirkov opened in 2013 in a converted former culture house and is now the largest climbing centre for miles around. Its 12 × 20 m hall, 7–13 m high, holds fifty belay lines with 150 routes of every grade (from 3 to 7c), reset and re-routed regularly. It also has one of the biggest bouldering walls in the country, including a striking 45° overhang where public competitions are held every month.

The arena welcomes everyone — children, beginners and experienced climbers alike — with instructor-led courses and equipment rental. For safety, first-time beginners must come for an introductory session with an instructor, booked in advance by phone; climbing shoes or clean indoor shoes are required and bare feet are not allowed.

A non-smoking café, open to the general public as well as climbers, serves coffee, tea, beer, wine and light food such as tortillas and pizza, and the venue also hosts concerts and travel or sports lectures.
