Via Ferrata Kolem Jalovce

Via Ferrata Kolem Jalovce is a small secured route on the rocky ridge below Bradlo (450 m) near Povrly, just north of Ústí nad Labem. Built by climber Karel Bělina, it works best as a short practice climb or as a lively detour on a walking loop through the České středohoří uplands.

Do not expect a long sport outing here. The charm is the quick approach, the exposed feel of the little rock step and the views that open over the broken volcanic landscape around Povrly.

Route and difficulty

The secured section is about 20 m long and is graded B. It suits beginners who already understand basic via ferrata movement, or first-timers accompanied by someone experienced. The route is short, so many visitors combine it with a wider hike around Bradlo and the surrounding viewpoints.

Allow about 1.5-2 hours for the whole outing with approach, climb, descent and a relaxed pause on the ridge.

Equipment

Standard via ferrata equipment is essential:

• via ferrata set with energy absorber
• climbing harness
• helmet
• firm hiking or approach shoes

There is no staffed rental point at the rock. Arrange equipment in advance in Ústí nad Labem or through an outdoor specialist.

Access

The ferrata can be approached from two directions:

• from the north, from a branch of the hiking route in Maškovice
• from the south, from Povrly

Povrly is about 15-20 minutes from Ústí nad Labem by car or bus. The route is short, but the terrain around the rocks can be uneven, especially after rain.

Practical information

The ferrata is freely accessible and there is no ticket or reservation system. Climb only in dry, stable conditions; ice, wet rock and poor visibility make even this short route unnecessarily risky.
