Johannes Adit

Johannes Adit is a historic mining complex in the Zlatý Kopec skarn district near Boží Dar. It belongs to the Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and represents the largest mine of the former Zlatý Kopec - Kaff district.
The underground workings preserve large historic chambers, the biggest of which measures about 60 x 20 m and reaches a height of 10-12 m. A visit takes you through roughly 500 years of Ore Mountains mining history.
Tours
The adit is open seasonally from 1 May to 15 October, with daily guided tours:

Advance booking is required. Online booking: rezervace.montanregion.cz. If paying in cash, visitors must first go to the Boží Dar Information Centre about 45 minutes before the tour starts; with an online PDF ticket, you can go directly to the adit. In both cases, be at the service house 15 minutes before the tour begins.

Practical information
The tours are physically more demanding. Entry is not permitted for children under 10, visitors with claustrophobia, visitors with mobility or balance problems, people under the influence of alcohol or other substances, or dogs and other animals.
The temperature underground is about 7 °C, with damp conditions; when it rains, water may run along the walls and floor. Warm outdoor clothing, warm socks and boots are recommended. A helmet with lamp, coat, gloves and, if needed, boots are provided free of charge. Mobile signal around the adit is weak, so prepare directions and visit information in advance.
Directions and contacts
The tour starts at the service house near Zlatý Kopec. From Boží Dar, drive towards Ryžovna and then turn to Zlatý Kopec; from the parking area by the Silver Trail board, continue on foot. You can also walk from Boží Dar to the adit; the route is about 5.5 km.
