Krudum Lookout Tower

Rozhledna Krudum · Vrch Krudum, k. ú. Třídomí, 357 31 Horní Slavkov

Krudum Lookout Tower stands in the Slavkov Forest on Krudum hill, in the cadastral area of Třídomí near Horní Slavkov. Today’s tower is a steel structure with a public viewing platform 29.5 metres above the ground. The platform is reached by 151 steps and, according to the operator, sits at 864.9 metres above sea level.

View And History

Krudum is an old excursion destination with a rich local story. The original stone lookout was built from a collection organised by citizens of Loket, later fell into disrepair and was removed in 1981. The current tower was created after 2001 thanks to local supporters, the town of Loket and Loketské městské lesy. It is not a classic tourist-only tower: the public viewing platform is part of a monitoring tower owned by the Czech Telecommunication Office.

Practical Information

According to the operator, the lookout is freely accessible year-round and without admission, but it may be closed for technical or safety reasons. Visitors must follow the operating rules: do not enter during storms, strong wind, ice, snow or after dark. A maximum of 35 people may be on the stairs and platform at one time, and mobile phones should be switched off because the tower also monitors the radio spectrum.
