Karlovy Vary Climbing Wall

Karlovy Vary Climbing Wall is the largest indoor climbing wall in the Karlovy Vary Region, set in the Dvory district at Kpt. Jaroše 376/3. Across roughly 550 sq m of climbing surface it combines vertical walls, overhangs and roof sections, with a maximum height of 11 metres. Thirty rope lines and more than a hundred routes cover the full range from first steps on holds to demanding strength and technique problems.

The wall is run by certified instructor Václav Krautštengl, who has been teaching climbing and youth training since 2010. It is a useful all-weather stop in Karlovy Vary: sporty enough for regular climbers, but still approachable for families and complete beginners.

Climbing for every level

Beginners can book a two-hour introductory session with an instructor, covering basic movement on the wall, belaying, rope handling and safe habits. If you arrive without your own kit, harnesses, ropes and climbing shoes can be rented on site.

More experienced climbers will find a broad spread of grades. The roof and overhanging profiles work well for power training, while the vertical sections reward technique and footwork. Routes are reset regularly, so repeat visitors still get fresh problems.

For young children there is a children's tower with lower holds, suitable even for preschool-age climbers under supervision.

Courses, groups and events

The wall runs several structured formats:

• Introductory adult course - two hours of technique and safety with an instructor
• Children's climbing clubs - regular training for movement skills, climbing technique and confidence
• School trips - programmes for primary and secondary school groups
• Birthday parties - wall hire with an instructor for a memorable children's celebration
• Company teambuilding - private hire for groups

Courses and group visits should be booked in advance by phone or e-mail.

Passes:

• 1 month: 1,550 CZK
• 10 entries, valid for 3 months: 2,000 CZK
• Annual pass: 15,000 CZK

Equipment rental

There is also a small shop with climbing equipment and clothing.

Practical information

This is an indoor, year-round climbing facility, so it works especially well for rainy days, winter afternoons or an active break from the spa centre of Karlovy Vary. Facilities include changing rooms with showers and a bar with Wi-Fi. The whole venue is non-smoking.
