Mauritius Mine is a former tin mine near Hřebečná, close to Abertamy, and a Czech national cultural monument. It is one of the largest tin mines in the Czech Ore Mountains and was worked for roughly 400 years, from 1545 to 1944. Visitors enter the historic Christoph Adit, one of the oldest adits of the mine, where the route shows hand-cut mining passages, extraction methods from the 16th-18th centuries, and a large underground chamber.
Tours
The visitor season runs from May to September. Guided tours start at 9:30, 11:00, 12:30, 14:00 and 15:30 and must be booked in advance through the reservation system, by phone, or at the Abertamy Information Centre.
The tour lasts about 1 hour. From the service building, visitors descend by stairs 12 vertical metres into the Christoph Adit. The route is about 400 m long, mostly on a level mine floor, and includes the adit itself, connected workings, and the main highlight - the Great Chamber. The route has 11 stops; the chamber at the end of the adit is 65 m long, 4-9 m wide, and in places up to 25 m high.

Tours are paid directly at the mine, in cash only.
Practical information
Each tour requires at least 2 visitors and has a maximum capacity of 12. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start. Entry is not permitted for children under 6, people with claustrophobia, people with mobility, health, or balance problems, people under the influence of alcohol or other substances, or dogs and other animals.
The mine has a stable temperature of about 7 °C, damp conditions, and water may run along the walls and floor. Warm outdoor clothing, warm socks, and boots are recommended. Before entering, visitors can borrow a safety helmet with lamp, a coat, and boots if needed, free of charge.
