Papilonia Butterfly House Karlovy Vary

Papilonia Butterfly House Karlovy Vary is a warm tropical garden where live exotic butterflies fly freely around visitors. The attraction is compact, colourful and easy to enjoy with children: instead of glass barriers, you walk directly through the flight zone and watch butterflies land, feed, rest and sometimes settle close enough for a photo.

The butterflies come from regions such as Thailand, the Philippines, Mexico and the rainforests of South America. Some reach a wingspan of up to 20 cm, so the visit feels much more vivid than a static exhibition.

Papilonia is open 7 days a week, including public holidays.

Admission

Online tickets receive a 10% discount. Groups of 10 or more, disability card holders, seniors and students receive a 15% discount. For children's groups, one adult escort is free for every ten children. Discounts cannot be combined.

Practical information

The flight zone covers about 100 sq m and contains information panels about butterfly life. Photography is not restricted or charged, so keep a camera ready in case a butterfly chooses your shoulder as a resting place. Do not miss the hatching area: with a bit of luck, you can see a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis and take its first flight.

The environment is tropical, so expect warmth and humidity. Souvenirs with butterfly themes are available at reception.
