Dřenice Swimming Area sits on the south-western shore of the Jesenice reservoir, about 4 km south-west of central Cheb. It is one of the easy summer choices in the Cheb area: a long sandy and grassy beach, gentle entry into the water and enough facilities for families, swimmers, ball games and an unhurried day outside.
The Jesenice reservoir, locally called Jesenická přehrada, is the largest reservoir lake in the Karlovy Vary Region. It was built in the 1960s on the Ohře River and also serves an important water-management role for Cheb and nearby communities. In summer, its broad water surface and open banks draw visitors from across the region.
Activities and sport
Dřenice is set up for both quiet bathing and active beach days:
- Beach volleyball - 3 courts for casual and more competitive games
- Beach football - 2 sandy pitches
- Football, table tennis and pétanque - simple options for mixed-age groups
- Boat and pedal-boat rental - an easy way to get out onto the calm reservoir
- Children's corner - paddling pool and sandpit for younger visitors
The site has showers, changing rooms, toilets, refreshments and sports-equipment rental. Parking capacity is about 200 spaces. Cultural events are held during the season, including open-air music events such as Dřenice SOUND in past years.

After 17:00, admission is reduced by half: adults CZK 50, children CZK 25. Season passes are available for regular visitors: adults CZK 2,000, children CZK 1,000.
Practical information
The swimming area is open each year from 15 May to 15 September, depending on weather:
- 15 May-30 June: daily 10:00-19:00
- 1 July-31 August: daily 9:00-20:00
- 1-15 September: daily 10:00-19:00
Plan around 4 hours for a relaxed visit. Animals are not allowed inside the swimming area. In summer, Cheb public transport line 7 connects the city centre with Dřenice. Parking for cars is free by the site.
