Šemnice u mostu Climbing Rocks
Šemnice u mostu · Šemnice u mostu, 362 72 Šemnice
Šemnice u mostu is a small riverside granite climbing area below the village of Šemnice, in a quiet bend of the Ohře. It should not be confused with Šemnická skála above the village, where climbing is prohibited for nature-protection reasons. The appeal here is intimate rather than monumental: short slabs and broken walls rise close to cottages and the river.
What to See
The local guide divides the area into six sectors: Špačkárna, Západní, Skříň, Sluneční, Boulovatá and Hlavní masiv. There are roughly sixty routes, mostly moderate, from easy lines to around UIAA 7+. The rock is solid granite with cracks, edges and horizontal breaks; many routes are equipped with glued bolts, but a small rack can still be useful.
Practical Information
Access starts at the bridge in the hamlet of Šemnice u mostu. After crossing the bridge, turn left onto the narrow lane and continue through the cottage area for about 0.7-0.8 km upstream. Parking is limited to only a few cars near the end of the meadow. Keep the lane clear, stay quiet and pack out all waste.
