Šemnická Rock
Šemnická skála · Šemnická skála, 362 72 Šemnice
Šemnická Rock is a protected viewpoint above the village of Šemnice and the Ohře valley. It is separate from the climbing area Šemnice u mostu by the river. The summit rock is valued for its volcanic origin, steep eastern face and views towards the Doupovské hory, the Krušné hory and the middle Ohře landscape.
What to See
The printed Ostrov guide explicitly warns climbers not to confuse the two places: Šemnice u mostu is the climbing area, while Šemnická skála is protected and climbing is prohibited. For walkers, however, it remains an attractive natural landmark with a strong landscape presence.
Practical Information
Access is by marked walking routes, including the red trail from Karlovy Vary and routes from Šemnice or Andělská Hora. Stay on paths, avoid the steep edges in wet or icy weather and respect the protected nature site, including nesting birds and thermophilous plants mentioned in regional sources.
