Svatý Linhart Game Preserve
Obora svatý Linhart · Svatý Linhart, 360 01 Karlovy Vary
The Svatý Linhart game preserve lies in the spa forests above Karlovy Vary, at the Svatý Linhart Forest Centre near Doubí. It covers almost seventy hectares and, alongside conventional hides, offers a rare view of the animals and landscape from a system of raised footbridges that lift the trail as high as six metres.
Two observation walkways run through the preserve, and the animals can pass freely beneath them. The longer walkway crosses the main enclosure, running mostly across meadows along five linked ponds and at times through deep forest right beside the trunks; the shorter one passes through the side enclosure for wild boar. The preserve is divided into three sections — Dybowski's sika deer near Linhart, fallow deer in the middle section, and wild boar at the top.
The trails and walkways form three circuits (about 10 km) and are freely accessible year-round at no charge. Dogs on a leash are allowed but must not disturb the animals. The site is managed by the Karlovy Vary Spa Forests and Parks; the Svatý Linhart centre also has a café with an information point, a rope park and (paid) parking.
Getting there: the nearest stops are the Doubí u Karlových Varů and Karlovy Vary–Březová train stations, with forest walks leading up to the preserve.
