Castle Tower

The Castle Tower is a small but rewarding stop above Karlovy Vary's spa centre. Climb the stairs or take the lift, look out over the colonnades and rooftops, and step into an exhibition that explains why Karlovy Vary belongs to The Great Spa Towns of Europe.

A historical cellar space is included in the visit, so the tower works both as a viewpoint and as a compact introduction to the city's spa identity. You can also explore it through the virtual tour before you go.

The Great Spa Towns of Europe

The exhibition presents the group of 11 exceptional spa towns in seven countries that were jointly inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in July 2021. It explains the shared principles behind the inscription and shows why Karlovy Vary is part of this international spa story.

The main exhibit is a 3D-printed model of Karlovy Vary with dynamic lighting that highlights important places. Another installation introduces all 11 spa towns in a playful way, while an audiovisual piece uses image and sound recordings from around Vřídlo, the Hot Spring at the heart of Karlovy Vary.
